Drawing with metal: an intuitive approach to jewellery making | 17th & 24th September
This two-part jewellery workshop explores the idea of drawing with metal wire and hand tools.
Across two evenings, we’ll use simple jewellery making techniques like shaping, forming, and soldering to “draw” in three dimensions. Think of the metal wire as a tool for expression and a line that can be bent, curved, and joined into wearable forms. This workshop is less about perfect outcomes and more about exploring process, rhythm, and mark making through metal.
We'll take an intuitive approach and let your ideas evolve through doing, rather than following a fixed design. The gap between sessions gives space for your thoughts to settle, shift, and develop. You’ll leave with a finished piece of jewellery made from recycled silver: a ring, necklace, or pair of earrings shaped by your own creative direction.
What we’ll cover:
- Working with copper and recycled silver wire
- Shaping, forming, texturing, and soldering techniques
- Thinking through making: using tools as drawing instruments
- Letting ideas develop over time
- Finishing and assembling a final piece
What you’ll make:
A piece of jewellery (ring, earrings, or necklace) made from recycled silver, based on your own intuitive drawings and experiments with metal wire (brass/copper. All tools and materials are included.
When:
