Intuitive jewellery making workshop. Sunday 19th Nov, Leeds

This event is at Hyde Park Book Club, LS61BL 9.30-11.30am on Sunday 19th Nov.

In this two hour workshop, you will design and make a piece of silver or brass jewellery through intuitive process.

We will work through two sketching prompts and fill a page with drawings, abstract shapes and wiggly lines that will act as a base for you jewellery design. The empahsis here will be on perception, imagination, space and shape. Absolutely no drawing or jewellery making experience is required. The aim here is to be playful and use imaginative and abstract techniques to make a tangible thing.

You will:

- Be guided through intuitive drawing techniques using charcoal, pen and paper. Intuitive drawing is an amazing way to work with your inner world.

- Create a series of sketches using your own imagination and our surroudings. Depending on the weather, you could sketch the spaces you see in the clouds outside, trace the outline of a buildings, draw a shadow you make, or anything else that takes your fancy. I'll suggest some prompts and act as a guide.

- After sketching, you will select a drawing or part of your drawing that you would like to make in metal. I will guide you through the process of turning this shape into a piece of jewellery: whether this is a pair of earrings, a ring or necklace.

- You will shape and hammer your choice of recycled sterling silver or recycled brass wire into this design, using jewellery making tools. This is a simple process and suitable for beginners.

Please note, due to the constraints of the venue, we cannot use blowtorches or any soldering equipment on site. As such, your piece will be finished and polished by me after the workshop and posted out around one week after the event.
